I took out my spacer last Saturday, haven't had a lick of a problem (yet)! Adjusted the set screw (behind the brass plug) to bring the idle down a bit and the throttle handles alot better! Added the Jardine slip-on a month ago and overall, my Savage is a better beast! Other than the discoloration in half of the slip-on, the bike runs great.
